Words and Actions Matter: Providing Gender Affirming Spaces for All

Recordings of “Words and Actions Matter: Providing Gender Affirming Spaces for All” presented in collaboration by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and The Hospital for Sick Children are now available.

“Words and Actions Matter: Providing Gender Affirming Spaces for All”, is comprised of four videos and two downloadable pdf posters.

The education and training package affirms that “gender identity development starts in childhood and that we all have a responsibility to create safe, inclusive spaces for all children, their families and providers across all sectors”. It was developed with input from Cathy Maser, a nurse practitioner with years of experience working with children and youth, and Donna De Filippis, parent of a young transgender woman.

The website notes that the content was created and will be delivered by community members who are educators and providers in Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ agencies across the country, with a specific focus on gender diverse children.

The links to the recordings are now available on the SickKids Telelink webpage, under Education and Training Opportunities: https://www.sickkids.ca/en/care-services/clinical-departments/telelink-mental-health/#refer
