ChildCareBC Bulletin: Removing Barriers for International ECE's
In Edition 114, March 13, 2026, the provincial government’s ChildCareBC Bulletin announced plans to further remove barriers for qualified, internationally certified early childhood educators from more than 30 countries.
The announcement reads:
If you are certified as an early childhood educator in another country, you might be able to apply for a Five Year Early Childhood Educator certificate in British Columbia using your work experience from outside Canada.
Internationally trained early childhood educator applicants with recognized certification and work experience can now apply for certification through My ECE Registry, https://myeceregistry.gov.bc.ca/login without needing additional Canadian work experience. Please check the ECE International Applicant web page https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/education-training/early-learning/teach/training-and-professional-development/become-an-early-childhood-educator/pathways/international for more information.
Please note that these changes do not affect early childhood educator applicants trained in B.C. or other provinces.
