New Sesame Street Feature: Watch and Play

Sesame Workshop now offers a new feature – Watch and Play – to support interactive response to the current series of Sesame Street programs.

The new Watch and Play option offers opportunities to explore ways to extend learning at home with printables, videos on more to expand the topics introduced in episodes of the current series of Sesame Street.

The Watch and Play option is available on the Sesame Workshop site. The episodes are available to watch on Netflix and PBS Kids, as well as on PBS stations regular scheduling.

The current series (Season 56) places a particular emphasis on emotional well-being. As well as the episode-specific support materials, Sesame Workshop also offers a Resource section on Healthy Minds and Bodies, offering resources on health and wellness, social-emotional skills, and school readiness.

The episodes available so far with additional support material are:

Elmo Runs the Race (eating well)

Grow Your Colours: Grow healthy, colourful foods with Grover and Rosita

Anytime & Sometimes Foods: Not all food is the same. Some food provides benefits, and some are made for fun. Explain to kids the difference between “anytime” and “sometimes” foods.

Eating Colourful Fruits & Veggies: Encourage children to eat many different coloured foods, just like Rosita.

Cookie Monster’s Big Puzzle (social and emotional skills)

Whole-Body Listening: Whether children are interacting with others on a screen or in person, you can help them build their ability to focus, concentrate, and block out background noise and other distractions by helping them practise whole-body listening.

Mindful Monsters: Whole-Body Listening with Elmo: In this podcast, Emo practises whole-body listening.

Abby’s Magical Beasties (emotional well-being)

A Good Friend to Myself: Self-compassion matters … children should be as kind to themselves as they are to others.
