The Community Action Initiative is offering 200 paid spots in an online Motivational Interviewing course, offered by the Justice Institute of BC, to staff of community-based non-profit agencies whose work helps to address mental health and substance use issues. In addition, there is an optional 10 month in-depth post-training coaching by teleconference for up to 100 interested trainees who successfully complete the online modules. Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a person-centered counselling style for addressing ambivalence and strengthening a client’s own motivation and commitment to change. It has been heavily featured at the last two Vancouver Island Regional Training Events and has received rave reviews by CAPC, CPNP and AHS staff and coordinators.
