Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute (CTRI) Live Webinar Series

The Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute (CTRI) are offering a series of live webinars over the next few months. They are not free, but are low-cost. Each webinar is a one-hour live interactive session with one of the team of CTRI trainers. The sessions are designed to be accessible, applicable, engaging, interactive and practical.

Upcoming webinars include:

·      Trauma-Informed Care (December 3): Nathan Gerbrandt, MSW, RSW will discuss the prevalence of trauma and its impact on many of the people we interact with, including clients and colleagues. The webinar will explore how to build a trauma-informed culture in a workplace setting that integrates knowledge throughout the organization. Guiding principles will be explored for increasing emotional and physical safety, culturally sensitive empowerment, and creating resilience for all parts of an organization. NOTE: A free offering of this webinar on January 25, 2022, limited to 3 individuals per organization will be offered in support of the CTRI vision to create a world where everyone is trauma-informed. (Certificates will not be issued for the free webinar.)

·      Ethics of Helping: Boundaries and Relationships (December 10): Vicki Enns, MMFT, RMFT will look at the ethical dilemmas facing anyone working in the helping professions. The webinar is designed to give individuals and organizations an opportunity to review common principles and standards for ethical practice that are relevant for their settings. Viewers will practice using an ethical decision-making process to work through common areas of ethical concerns and leave with a stronger awareness of their own ethical base.

·      Play Therapy: Tools for Helping Children and Youth (December 13): This webinar, with Kelly Smith, MSW, RSW, will provide an introduction on how to use play therapy strategies to help children and youth positively cope and work through stressful life experiences.

·      De-Escalating Potentially Violent Situations (January 24): This webinar with Nathan Gerbrandt is designed to teach people to de-escalate potentially violent situations through assertiveness and interpersonal communication.

·      Addictions and Mental Health (February 4): John Koop Harder, MSW, RSW will provide a framework for assisting people to move forward with healthy ways of coping. Participants will explore the experience of living with an addiction and mental health concerns, be provided with an understanding of contributing and protective factors, and learn how to integrate strategies in a way that respects the person and supports their health.
