Storybooks Canada: Storybooks in Many Languages

Storybooks Canada provides early learning storybooks for use and downloading. There are stories available in many languages, including the most widely spoken immigrant and refugee languages of Canada. Multiple-language audio resources are in development for many of the stories, although some audio links are already active. Languages include:

Stories in the African Storybook Collection are available in a variety of African languages, including ChiShona, Ekegusii, Hausa, isiZulu, Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, Lingola, Lubukusu, Lukenye, Lusoga,Oluwanga, Sepedi, Sesotho, Setswana and Tshivenda.

As well as linking to the African Storybook, the site links to Global Storybooks site, which offers storybooks using the languages of Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ghana, Haiti, Hong Kong, Hungary, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and Zambia, as well as stories designed for use by speech and hearing professionals. This link also includes Indigenous Storybooks inspired by the open-licensed stories from http://littlecreebooks.com/ The Indigenous Storybooks resource is still being developed; stories available so far are being developed in Plains Cree, Swampy Cree, Haida (Old Massett), English, French and Spanish.
